What is the Groove in Gwanak Festival About?
Groove in Gwanak is a celebration of all genres of street dance, including Popping, Locking, Waacking, Breaking, House, and Krump. This festival offers a dynamic mix of activities and performances, making it a cornerstone of the summer lineup for the Gwanak Festival, a four-season event series. Last year, the festival attracted over 50,000 dancers and spectators, solidifying its reputation as a premier cultural gathering.
What to Expect
1. Street Dance Battles and Performances
Experience electrifying dance battles and performances featuring stars from popular shows like ‘Street Woman Fighter’ and ‘Street Man Fighter.’ Watch as dancers from all over the globe showcase their skills and compete in various street dance styles.
2. Dance Camp
Participate in immersive dance camps where you can learn from some of the best dancers in the world. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, these sessions offer a fantastic opportunity to hone your skills.
3. GIG Flea Market

G.I.G Exhibition
Another event you won’t want to miss! Running from June 4 to June 30 (closed Mondays and holidays), the ‘Style in Motion: The Fashion of Street Dance‘ exhibition is a must-see. Located at the Gwancheon-ro Cultural Platform S1472, it offers a deep dive into the fashion trends and cultural impact of street dance. Exhibition hours are 10 AM – 9 PM (Tuesday to Saturday) and 10 AM – 6 PM (Sunday).
How to Get to the Groove in Gwanak Festival
The festival is held at Sillim Starlight Stream (신림 별빛내린천), Gwanak-gu, Seoul. The closest station to get there is Sillim Station on Line 2 (Green Line). Use Exit 3 and walk straight for about 10 minutes to reach Sillim Starlight Stream.
