Every winter, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) transforms into a breathtaking wonderland known as “Seoul Light,” an event that illuminates Seoul with spectacular displays. Whether you’re a local or an international visitor, Seoul Light promises an unforgettable experience, so don’t miss out. Seoul Light DDP is also a part of the Seoul Winter Festa, the city’s largest winter festival. There’s so much to expect this winter, so be prepared to have fun!
What is the Seoul Light DDP about?
Seoul Light is an annual light art festival held at DDP, an architectural marvel that stands as a symbol of South Korea’s creative spirit. This event combines cutting-edge technology with artistic expression to create stunning visual narratives projected onto the building’s unique curved façade. Each year features a different theme, often inspired by global trends, cultural stories, or futuristic visions, making every visit a fresh and exciting adventure.
This winter, Seoul Light DDP 2024 features the theme: “5 Cheers! A Relay of Hope.” Five characters, who travel across the globe, come together to prepare a year-end performance. They send messages of hope and encouragement to everyone bidding farewell to the past year and welcoming the new one. For the coming year, as you move toward greater hope and challenges – Cheers!

How to Get There
The Seoul Light festival is held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul.
By Subway: Take Line 2, 4, or 5 to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station. Use Exit 1 or 2, and DDP will be right in front of you.
By Bus: Numerous bus routes stop near DDP, including local and airport buses. Check the Seoul public transportation app for the best route from your location.
By Taxi: Tell the driver “DDP” or show them the Korean name “동대문 디자인 플라자”.
